Psychological Dynamics of Early Childhood with Selective Mutism

Purpose – Selective mutism in early childhood, although the incidence is not much, this condition can be a big challenge for professionals, teachers, and parents. This study aims to describe psychological dynamics of childhood with selective mutism.Design/methods/approach qualitative research uses case approach—data collection techniques observation, interviews, documentation. Data analysis data reduction, presentation conclusion drawing. Test validity by triangulation sources. The participant was five-year-old girl diagnosed mutism.Findings associated anxiety problems problem cognitive abilities language development. Lack social stimulation preschool years reinforces symptoms mutism. Parenting history form mother’s emotional condition, pattern attachments, parenting style labels affect appearance mutism.Research implications/limitations has narrow coverage area, so results are intended draw general conclusions or generalizations. However, expected used understand similar cases.Practical implications study’s help psychology children that preventive interventional ways formulated reduce symptoms.Originality/value Further recommended deepen further quantitative relationship between children’s mothers baby blues syndrome.Paper type: Case
